IMPOWER Host Homes Program in Partnership with the Homeless Services Network of Central Florida

The IMPOWER Host Homes Program provides a critical solution for young people experiencing housing crises. In collaboration with the Homeless Services Network of Central Florida, this initiative offers a flexible, short-term housing intervention aimed at creating a safe, supportive environment for youth in need.

What is Hosting?

Hosting involves compassionate community members opening their homes to young individuals in need of shelter. These hosts provide not only a roof but also mentorship and emotional support, acting as trusted adults in the lives of vulnerable youth. Through this program, young people are given the stability and affirmation they need to get back on their feet.

Key Components of the Host Homes Program:

  1. Orientation and Guided Matching Process
    • We ensure a seamless and supportive experience for both hosts and youth by offering a guided matching process based on compatibility and safety. Each host undergoes thorough orientation and training.
  2. Monthly Support and Training
    • Hosts receive continuous guidance and resources through monthly support sessions, ensuring they have the tools and knowledge necessary to provide an affirming environment for youth.
  3. Ongoing Case Management
    • Both hosts and youth are supported by dedicated case managers who help address individual needs, facilitate communication, and provide ongoing resources throughout the hosting experience.
  4. Resources and Community Engagement
    • Beyond housing, participants in the program have access to a wide range of resources, from educational support to community engagement activities that foster personal and professional growth.
  5. Permanent Housing Search
    • While the Host Homes Program is a short-term solution, our ultimate goal is to assist youth in securing permanent housing. We work closely with local services to facilitate a smooth transition to long-term stability.
