September 2013 – IMPOWER and Nova University have partnered to offer graduate level doctoral Physician Assistant (PA) students the first ever opportunity to include psychiatric rotations as part of the field learning experience. Each semester, IMPOWER will host two (2) PA residents in our Longwood and Osceola clinics. The first two residents joined us on August 19th and will spend three months working with IMPOWER. Under the direction of IMPOWER Medical Director, Dr. Myrtho Branch, the PA Residents learn the ins and out of Psychiatric work as they shadow our doctors, take vitals, interact with patients, and complete special projects.
“We are excited to be working with Nova University,” says Lisa Peyton, Chief Operating Officer for IMPOWER. “The training experiences will help to prepare PA students to deliver services to diverse patient populations of all ages with a range of mental health issues.”
